HIGH TECH IN NORWICH - THE SAINSBURY CENTRE FOR THE VISUAL ARTS

OPENED IN 1978, THE SAINSBURY CENTRE for the Visual Arts still looks spanking new. The high-tech building in the grounds of the University of East Anglia, UK, houses the Sainsbury Collection, a wide-ranging art show that ranges from pieces thousands of years old to the latest works of leading edge artists.

The architects Foster Associates are famed for their world-wide reach, having designed buildings across the globe, from London to Berlin, Hong Kong to Arizona. All of which makes seeing something like this a bit of a surprise in a part of England not noted for modern architecture, and a city with more churches than high tech buildings. Inside, Foster's building is notable mostly for its uncluttered interior, allowing the artworks plenty of room. The short video gives you an idea of what you will see there.

If you have any interest in art or high-tech - or both - then the Sainsbury Centre for the Visual Arts should be on the must-visit list.
